Staycation

So we decided to head down to Mom and Dads condo. I love coming down here. No pressure to clean the whole house do all the laundry see the weeds that need to be pulled.. Relax. well other than trying to keep the kids quiet, Tom is used to it but Brady and Jake are not.

When we got here there was a fox playing in the backyard. Jakey wanted to eat it but we didn't think that was prudent.

Clark got home last night just in time for my girlfriend to come pick me up and we went and met some other friends for dinner. It was great conversation and luckily the restaurant wasn't crowded. We got there at 7:30 and stayed until at least 11. Chatting chatting chatting. The ladies I was with were friends from the first playgroup that Tom and I joined when I stopped working at Eddie Bauer. The kids are growing up and two of us have moved away but we can talk like we just got together last week. It was so fun. Even had the same dickering over the bill when we were all done. Fun times.

Here's to friendship. Cheers.

CORN

So we had our corn it was doing good the weeds weren't too bad. Then the house was sold at auction. The gentleman who bought is fixing up the inside and then will flip it. Can you imagine living in a house with only one bathroom. It is kinda like living without the ability to have cable probably. You can do it but it isn't easy.

So I digress, the corn is gone. The backhoe came and ripped it all out yesterday. He had an audience of about 5 kids watching from the big toy, with his big cigarette hanging out of his mouth. Lovely. So I had to change the sprinkling system so it would stop spraying the now dirt. My lovely very tall neighbor came over and helped, Thank you.

The new flipper wants to lay down a sprinkling system and sod. Great Idea but he has a bit of a flooding problem in his yard. So I tried to explain that it isn't from the sprinkling systems of the neighbors it is when it rains and snows there is a bit of a flood in the back yard. So I was able to find some pics that I had taken of the snow last year and was able to show him the areas that are problematic. I hope it helps. Oh well. I hope the people that buy it are happy with what he does. Hopefully they will want a fence and then things will be hunky dory. But then I won't get my trees so oh I don't know. Life is always changing and that what makes it so fun.

Description

Many of our volunteers have been asking, “What else can I do to help?” Today we are announcing a new awareness and fund-raising program called “The Stand To Cure MS.”

As part of our effort to engage and service people with MS statewide, we will be launching our new program throughout Utah. The Utah State Chapter of the National MS Society has partnered with Harmons and Select Associated Food Stores to raise awareness and funds for MS.

August 21st and 22nd families from all over Utah will join the movement and volunteer at one of 37 lemonade stands hosted by our fine partners. The stands will be open 3-7 on Friday evening and again 11-3 on Saturday.

The idea came from 7-year-old Tomas Taylor of Sandy, Utah. Tomas is an example of the great people that want to do something about MS now. You can watch his story on KSL’s website at: http://www.ksl.com/index.php?nid=148&sid=3808232

You can join us! Go to www.standtocurems.org and pick a store location near you. All the supplies will be delivered to the store location. All you need to bring is a few helpers (young or old) and a smile.

Hurry the locations will fill up fast!

More information about the program is online at www.standtocurems.org. If you have any additional questions please contact me at seth.bowers@nmss.org or at 801.424.0112.

So Thomas and I will be at the Harmon's in Roy to promote this lemonade stand. Come visit us and get some lemonade :> If you want to come help us let me know.
